Has anyone been able to use the Pencil while it's connected to its Lightning adapter?

To those of you with the Pencil, have you attempted to use it with your iPad Pro while it is charging via the Lightning adapter? The reason I ask is that I am unable to use it in that manner even though it is connected to my iPad via Bluetooth. As soon as I disconnect it from the Lightning adapter, it works. Why would it not work while connected to the adapter even though it is still connected to my iPad Pro via Bluetooth?

Great question, I haven't even used my Apple Pencil yet.

The  Pencil only works with the iPad Pro.
