My iPhone 5 charger cord bent at the point where the lightning pin begins and the cord ends and it wouldn't recharge. I found out that a cable was broken (torn in two pieces). I managed to clean the surrounding of the cable (nylon fiber, other protection material etc), and managed to connect the two pieces of the cable (by the way, it's the red cable) and it would work just fine with a bit of struggle. But today, I don't know why, when I connect them, the iPhone doesn't recharge.
Any image, picture, diagram, tutorial on how to repair it, or some info or article on how the cables work and how I need to connect them? Anything that could help me would be highly appreciated.

I can't buy another one because I live in Albania, and there is no official Apple Store in here, and all those stores who sell a charger for iPhone 5, try to scam us, because it's not the original charger, is a chinese one.
And I can't order one online because I have no credit card.
Please, I am desperate, especially since my iPhone is turned off right now.
Thank you.
