Default You know, I like LifeProof but really!?

So the first LifeProof I bought for my ip5 had sound quality issues, they sent me a replacement that had a hardware flaw, the mute toggle wouldn't toggle the iPhones switch. So they sent me another replacement. I got an iPhone 4/4S model, so I double checked the email, it says iPhone 5, I double checked the receipt it came with, says iPhone 5. So why did I get an iPhone 4/4S model? I took a picture of the box and receipt with both models clearly legible and sent it to them in an email and asked them to find the problem. We'll see what happens.

Made in massive amounts, surely shipping issues happen. Surely they will make it right.

I am about to get my 4th replacement, they keep sending me the prior versions with the foam near the earpiece that causes a pillowing effect. The customer service reps are nice, but seem to have no control over which version I get. The last one tried to order it straight from their warehouse instead of a third party shipped, but I still got the same one.
I am tempted got just pull the foam off of the top, but I don't want any sticky residue left.

Seems the colored cases don't have these issues, hope they can get it figured out

Yeah, I understand, but it's no less annoying on my end. I travel for work, I only work out of town, so I have to wait before I can get home and get my case and if its wrong then it's at least another week wait if not two to a month.

I saw a YouTube vid for the magenta one and it seemed to have the foam near the earpiece

My blue and recent black one did not have that near the earpiece

Don't use life proof myself, but wouldn't it be easier to just pick one up at best buy or somewhere. That way you can make sure it's right before leaving the store and not have to wait on shipping or worry they sent you the wrong one?!

I did initially, but I'd rather only pay the $80 once rather than multiple times and they're good about replacements and being sure you do get a good product. And it's free, minus shipping for sending the bad case back.

Use a little rubbing alcohol or an alcohol prep pad to get the residue off.

My fiancé and I bought two of the fre cases at best buy Wednesday. The tan one and the magenta one. They are both going back tomorrow. Mine had newton rings that I could not get rid off and my sound was way too muffled. Hers messed up her voice when calling someone. She had to pretty much yell in order for me to hear her. I tried to reset her phone in the case and checked that the ports were clear and not blocked by foam to no avail.

Apparently LifeProof was filled with emails and sent an email saying so and to reply if you still had an issue or call if you had a pressing concern. So I told them they shipped me the wrong case and they have already sent out another replacement. I hope this one is good, otherwise I think I'll get my money back.

At best buy you pay the $80 once also...if its not right, swap it for a new one...if that one's not right, swap it for a new one. All of that could be done in a matter of a few minutes without ever having to leave the parking lot. So, by using bestbuy you would have saved all that time of having to wait for replacements to be shipped and actually saved money because of not having to pay for return shipping. But hey, if it makes sense to you then that's cool.

Saves time, if they have the newest versions in stock.
Lifeproof gives you a return shipping label, so you don't have to pay the shipping.

The person i quoted said otherwise about return shipping, that's why I mentioned that. If you check the serial numbers on the box and get a higher number chances are you'll get a newer case. I've done it

I have returned 4 cases, I had to ask twice for the label, the other times they just emailed one to me. Depends on the rep I guess.

Yeah, I didn't know about that. Never heard anything about the label and LifeProof said nothing about it and I've never received one.

I got mine at Walmart about three weeks ago, have had no issues. Only thing that bugs me aesthetically is that the retina display doesn't seem as vibrant looking the life proof plastic. But the overall protection is nice.

I was looking at the LifeProof website and I said to myself I gotta get me one of those, I just can't stand the OtterBox it's like so annoying with the rubber.

Yeah. I had an OtterBox for my 4, and while it did protect it, it was too bulky.

This LifeProof case is nice so far, and is pretty sleek. Biggest draw for me is the waterproof aspect and the dust/dirt protection. I rarely drop my phone, so at least for me, the extra shock absorbency and bulk of an OB is unneeded.

Got back home today and my new package from LifeProof was waiting for me. It was for iPhone 5, and as far as I can tell works great. My mute switch toggle works on it, no tinny rattling sound even at max volume, passed the water test. It does have a really tight for though, but I think I prefer it. My only gripe is that sound is always bassy (because of the subwoofer like capacity of the case), so even things like my keyboard clicks sound deeper and slightly farther away. But overall, great case.

Walmart is not listed as an authorized reseller. I would check to make sure it's not a knock off.

I looked at some today. Looked like the real thing. Was weird that one of my walmarts does not carry them while my other one does lol. I wouldn't think that Walmart would sell counterfeit ones though.

Did you buy your case from an unofficial retailer or on eBay?

The reason I ask is because you mentioned it's really tight, and the sound is bassy. When I first got my iPhone 5 I got a lifeproof for like $30 on eBay? Thought I was getting a good deal. When I got the package, everything looked legit, case passed the water test and everything, but as you mentioned, it felt tight on the phone & the sound was muffled & bassy. Since i had the original Lifeproof for my iPhone 4, I knew something was off. The quality wasn't as good as the original. Did a quick Google search and realized I bought a Chinese knock-off.

Went to Best Buy the next day, and got the real deal. It fit the phone better, and the sound quality was way better, and much clearer. I'd say it's even better than the original one for the 4/4S.
