iPhone 5 Cases

My otter box experiences: 4s in defender june 2011-sept 2011. No scratches or damage to phone. I kept the defender screen protector on also. Otterbox commuter, same phone. No issue. Defender rubber became loose after three months. Called otter box and they told me to take a pic of the back of case (showing logo) along with receipt from when I first bought it. I keep all receipts so no issue there. I emailed to them and they sent me a new defender plus an extra rubber part just in case (within five business days). Iphone five had defender on from 09/12 until 01/13. No damage. I put on zagg shield then popped out ob screen protector.

I have sent my otter box into the company four times now for a warranty replacement. At this point I think I am just going to do was something else like a fab shell from spec. I already have one I think I will just stick to it. Less bulky and better looking

The belkin candy grip sheer has gotten good reviews. It depends upon how much protection you think you will need, however, as the belkin is a relatively minimalistic case.

There are other cases out there with good reviews, such as spigen slim armor, among others.

The belkin is the first case I've used which I didn't think was complete garbage (commuter, defender). The belkin actually seems like a quality case, in the sense that it seems tailor made for the 5 in particular.

The commuter for a variety of reasons, is a bad design joke. The defender is a straight up brain fart. I am just astonished that otterbox is the leading company for iphone cases. Then again, mcdonald's sells more hamburgers than any other chain; a clear indication that popularity has not the slightest relation to quality.

Got in my Sweet Armor i5 bumper! Great build quality, extremely solid!! Case screws in too, so no movement. Very minimalist, but good protection for a bumper.

I just ordered the new one from book book. Cover the front and back like a Smart Cover type case. Should be here tomorrow.

Do you have any reception issues. I have heard some people complaining of this with metal bumpers.

Not at all. The only problem I encountered was that I couldn't fit my headphones (Monster Diesel) into the jack (case basically allows only for the earpods to fit). I ordered a converter for the jack (3.5mm Stereo Input Extension) and now it's perfect

I personally prefer the Belkin. They hold up better and don't scuff up.

Got my Graft Concepts bumper yesterday. Not sure if I love it or hate it. It will not let me use my wonderful aftermarket 10' lightning charger, and removing it at night to charge is a PITA.

It's a great case but it adds a ton of bulk to an otherwise sleek phone.

InCase Snap Case. Minimalist. Really secure fit and soft almost felt-like feel. Won't protect against drops, but if you're looking for a slim case to protect the aluminum back (for future trade/sell value) I highly recommend.

Oh, and good to be back in the forum. Good knowledgable folks here always willing to help.
