The weathered wood looks nice but maybe offer some in a nice varnish. To me a high-gloss wood looks much better than plain wood. Even if it is 100 years old.

Considering a portion of the proceeds are going to help with the Gulf oil spill, I'm not sure whether putting a nice oil-based stain on this would be taboo or not. I wonder if it could be stained with crude oil from the Gulf.
