Volume icon smack in middle of screen. Ipad 2. ios 7.1.1

Ive rebooted and reset. In about 10 minutes volume icon pops up. Affects volume. Cannot change it since ios upgrade.

Settings> general> accessibility > click off assistive touch.

Thanks but no thats not it. I have assistive touch on for years to save the home button. Just crazy icon just started since the update. It's transparent so i can type or touch thru it but gawd!!! I cant stand it.

I would still advice the advice given and if that does not work Sir I would do a clean install of the the OS 7.1.1 and that should take care of it after a full backup. More than likely a small bug installing the OS.

JAG, I followed your advice. I did the clean install and restored ipad to backup. The crazy icon was gone but it came back after about 20 minutes. It's locked in the middle of every app and it affects the sound. Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

Do you still have assist ice touch settings on??

I would turn that off and see if it goes away since it did but it came back because they are still on unless you need them on for a reason.
