How large is the Retina display on the New Macbook?

I am considering purchasing the new Macbook (12 inch), how large is the Retina display on it?

In a practical sense, I noticed you can have it do a good job of 800 and 900 pixels top to bottom - something very important if you're an IT person who does lots of sessions to other computers.

I've not committed to a purchase yet but the screen and adjustable resolution stood out and stopped my otherwise considering a new Apple or Microsoft tablet.
